Salento & its surroundings

Horses and crafts

Horseback rides are part of local tradition and of Cocora Valley. In Salento, craft shops fill Calle Real with colour.

At a gentle pace, with local hands.

Two ways into Quindío's culture: on horseback along mountain trails, or on foot among the town's workshops and shops. We don't run either, but we're happy to suggest where to start.

Horseback rides

Colombia Travel mentions horseback riding in Cocora Valley, and there are several operators around Salento. Book directly with them and agree route, length and price before you ride.

Choose operators who look after their horses: rested, well-fed animals with tack in good condition. If something doesn't feel right, don't ride.

Crafts in Salento

Calle Real, Carrera 6, climbs from the square towards the Alto de la Cruz viewpoint between colourful bahareque houses and craft shops.

Buy directly from the makers when you can, so the money stays in the region.

What we don't promise

  • The posada has no horses for hire and doesn't organise rides.
  • We don't publish ride or craft prices.
  • We don't endorse any particular operator.
